Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club

Royal Ashdown has been welcoming visitors to play its Old Course for over 130 years and they are assured an excellent experience at our traditional members’ golf club.

When you arrive, you will be warmly welcomed by our friendly Professionals, who will direct you to the changing room, lounge, bar, practice facilities and 1st tee.

Whilst predominantly a two-ball (singles or foursomes) course, four-ball play is permitted on Mondays (with the exception of Bank Holidays) and Thursday afternoons. Bookings may be made by contacting the club office on 01342 822018 or by email to  office@royalashdown.co.uk

WE CAN HELP YOU FIND THE PERFECT PACKAGE

We have a variety of packages that will enable you to play either (or both!) of our two wonderful courses and enjoy breakfast or lunch in our welcoming clubhouse.


36 Hole Rate (West & Old Courses)

Play both courses on the same day for just £160 per person (summer rate) or £100 per person (winter rate).

Useful Information

On arrival at the Club visitors are requested to report to the Professional Shop to sign in and receive the entry code for the Clubhouse.

The Clubhouse opening hours are 8.00-20.00 in the summer months (April-October) and
8.00-Dusk in the winter months (November-March)

Breakfast is available from 8.00 in the summer and 8.00 in the winter with Bar Menu options available until 16.00 each day.

Lunch, if required, is served in the Dining Room from 12.00 to 16.30 – advanced booking is necessary.

Dress Code

Smart casual dress may be worn in both bars. It is requested that jacket and tie be worn in the Dining Room please.

On the Course and in the Clubhouse, denim jeans, collarless shirts and “trainers” are not permitted. Tailored shorts may be worn on the course and, in keeping with the traditions of Royal Ashdown, long golf socks are preferred but short, plain coloured, socks are permitted. Cargo shorts and other shorts with exterior pockets will not be permitted.  Shorts are not allowed in the dining room.

Golf Shoes may not be worn in the Clubhouse.

There is no restriction on the type of golf shoe spike used on our courses.


Use of Mobile Phones

Mobile phones are not permitted in the Clubhouse, on the balcony or on the course.

They may only be used in the Car Park or in case of emergency.

Professional Shop

The Professional Shop is open daily from 7.30 to 18.00 (subject to season). Head Professional, Tim Cowley, and his team will be delighted to assist you with any golf equipment, clothing, accessories or gifts you may require.

Practice Facilities

A full range of practice facilities are on offer before and after your round including, driving range, pitching area, practice nets and putting green. Practice balls are available from the Professional Shop. All practice facilities are located conveniently adjacent to the Clubhouse and the driving range opening hours are 7.30-16.30 in the summer and 8.00-3pm in the winter.

Rental Equipment

We do have a large quantity of rental equipment available including buggies, electric/pull trolleys and hire sets but it is always advisable to book these items with the Professional Shop prior to your arrival.

Please Avoid Slow Play!

Slow play decreases the enjoyment of every other player on the course. Please do all you possibly can to avoid it – pick up when you cannot score and keep up with the group in front.
